Hand-made things by Witty Nell

'Witty Nell' is the trade mark used by my partner Ellen for her clothing / accessory design service.

Ellen shall be setting up her own website in due course (http://www.wittynell.co.uk/), but untill then, here is a brief outline and some examples of her work. In 2006, Ellen graduated from Winchester School of Art with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design. She has a flair for designing and creating original garments, a talent for sourcing vintage and unusual materials, clothing and accessories and has an in-depth knowledge and love of the history of art, design and fashion. Ellen also has extensive experience in clothing retail, including sales, visual merchandising and some buying.

She has an eye for detail and instinctively knows what garments and accessories will or will not suit a particular person.

Ellen has a particular interest in the use of ethically-sourced and ecologically-sustainable materials, including recycling and re-using materials wherever possible.

Please contact Ellen by using the contact form.

Baby / Toddler Jackets

Fully-reversible baby coats are becoming a speciality and are a delightful bespoke gift for christenings, new arrivals, etc. Here is a commission from last year.

Bags and Accessories

Ellen designed and made this shoulder bag (complete with antique clasp and decorative stitching), using leather from an unwanted skirt owned by her client.

Another bag, this time using quilting and appliqué techniques to create an 'Arts & Crafts'-style motif (inspired by the stained glass window of a local church):

Restoration Projects

Ellen recently renovated this antique christening gown, replacing the silk lining and repairing the clasps:
