Summary of our engineering technician and support
role-related experience:
- The development of both conceptual and detailed design of highways and transport infrastructure
projects, such as: alignment design to relevant geometric standards, traffic / cycle / pedestrian safety schemes and the design
of urban ‘public realm’ schemes
- The checking of drawings, details and schedules
- The writing of feasibility studies, assessment frameworks and contributions to impact assessment
reports
- The preparation of material for public consultations and the setting up / management of public
exhibitions and public inquiries
- Liaising directly with stakeholders, elected representatives, utility companies, contractors and
the general public
- Dealing with land ownership issues, statutory orders and traffic regulation orders
- Preparation of development-enabling infrastructure works (Section 278), development control-instigated
works (Section 106) and highway adoptions (Section 37 & 38)
- Having a general understanding of traffic management, transport policy and accessibility principles
and issues
- Confidence in working as part of a team alongside engineers, technicians, administration support,
technical specialists and other professional partners
- Mentoring and supervision of junior staff
