Ellen's Fashion Design

Ellen shall be setting up her own website in due course (http://www.wittynell.co.uk/), but untill then, here is a brief outline and some examples of her work.

In 2006, Ellen graduated from Winchester School of Art with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design.

She has a flair for designing and creating original garments, a talent for sourcing vintage and unusual materials, clothing and accessories and has an in-depth knowledge and love of the history of art, design and fashion.

Ellen also has extensive experience in clothing retail, including sales, visual merchandising and some buying.

She has an eye for detail and instinctively knows what garments and accessories will or will not suit a particular person.

Ellen has a particular interest in the use of ethically-sourced and ecologically-sustainable materials, including recycling and re-using materials wherever possible.

Below are pictures of an interesting recent commission. Ellen designed and made this shoulder bag (complete with antique clasp), using leather from an unwanted skirt owned by her client. Click on each image for a larger version.

Another bag, this time using quilting and appliqué techniques to create an 'Arts & Crafts'-style motif (inspired by the stained glass window of a local church):
